Common Questions
Does VoIP service support 9-1-1 emergency calls?
Yes, however VoIP 9-1-1 service has important differences from traditional landline 9-1-1. Please read the following carefully.
9-1-1 service may not be available or may be limited in the following circumstances:
- During a power outage, unless you have a backup power source for your equipment
- During an internet service outage or disruption
- If you have not provided or updated your civic (physical) address with Transition Talk
Your address matters. When you dial 9-1-1, emergency services are dispatched to the address on file for your account. If you move or change your location, you must update your address immediately via your Transition Talk dashboard or by contacting us at info@transitionit.ca or 514-535-0220.

Can we port our existing business numbers?
Yes. We handle the entire porting process. Your current numbers transfer to the new system with no downtime.
What about our existing IP phones?
If you have compatible IP phones, we can configure them to work with our system.
Or use softphones – apps on devices you already have, no hardware needed.
What if we need changes after setup?
We handle configuration changes. Add users, change routing, update settings – you don’t need to touch the portal.
